Title: HP 9180B Idled for about 2 years
Post by: EinstStein on December 15, 2013, 07:30:21 pm
I have a HP 9180B, it has been sitting idled for more than 2 years. Before that it is perfectly OK.
To bring it back, I'll need to get the inks, but not sure how are the printer heads.

Are they likely clogged? even if I replace all the heads, could the ink-ducts are also clogged?
What can I do about it?
1: Forget it, they are most likely unusable, and the recovery cost (heads and inks) will be more than a new comparable printer.
2: give it try, check these: ........

What do you say?

I just recovered two working ones out of three second hands....+ some extra new printheads

if you buy new printheads the printer will be fine ...

- so i would try first:

try to buy a second hand one for not too much money - so the chances are you end up with some ink and some good printheads or a good one...

-- or if you need a perfect printer:
buy the inks needed- see what printheads are not working- try to clean them -
( take them out and use some warm distilled water / alcohol) to rest them in.. be careful not to harm them)

then see what comes out and buy the remaining printheads...

You will have to calculate if its worth it- a 100$ printer is not the same - this one is build like a tank...

Its a personal choice- - I think in some ways it is a very good printer in others not so well..
i do not like the output on glossy paper so much... BW on matt paper is very good and will stay good forever...
The ink costs a lot with all these little printers....
