Title: AC Power for DC powered flashes: Tronix Speedfire
Post by: Ellis Vener on December 14, 2013, 02:10:04 pm
Tronix has introduced the Speedfire:, an AC power source for small battery powered flashes. You can read about here: https://www.innovatronix.com/index.php/products/item/35-tronix-speedfire

One BIG caveat: small flashes are not designed for this kind of rapid heavy duty work like dozens of full power flashes at 1 second intevals, especially over prolonged periods of time.  It can rapidly burn out your speedlight / speedlite and in the case of the Canon 580 EX II lead to internal arcing, between the flashtube and the mylar reflector - through the ozone that builds up inside of the very well sealed head. More about that here: http://lpadesign.com/580EXII.pdf
