Title: POed Red Tail Hawk
Post by: RSL on November 26, 2013, 09:15:48 am
He was after a baby squirrel, who was smart enough to get under a large branch of the tree. After a couple minutes of squawking and complaining and about six shots with my D100 he gave up and flew.

Where's the squirrel?
Like the shot though!

The squirrel is out of sight camera right and lower, hanging on the underside of a branch, squeezing as close to the trunk of the tree as he can get. I didn't try to shoot the squirrel.

Nice shot!
He looks as if he's trying to lecture the squirrel: "Don't you dare hide! Don't you know you were put on this earth just to be my breakfast?"

I have read that hawks' hunting weight is near their starvation weight.
As ravenous as he must be, no wonder he's PO'ed.

Damn squirrel!
