Title: Seeking advice on snowmobile trails in Maine or Eastern Canada
Post by: JDOAK on November 12, 2013, 09:17:44 am
I am interested in doing a week-long "saddlebag" snowmobile trail in Jan 2014 for landscape photography.  I am targeting either Maine or one of the eastern provinces of Canada (Quebec, Nova Scotia,...).  I have been able to locate dozens of trails, but am looking for a recommendation for especially scenic or photogenic trails, mile for mile.  If you have done any particularly scenic snowmobile tours (anywhere in North America, but especially interested in the northeast), please let me know where and what made it special.  Thank you.

In Maine there are extensive snow mobile and nordic ski trails in the Katahadin IronWorks/Joe-Mary lake region. I've never been in the area during winter, but I think this could be a decent place to get some photographs. There is also a lodge to lodge trail system that might be of interest. (https://www.outdoors.org/lodging/mainelodges/lyford/).  Another area in Maine that I could suggest is the White Mountains/Grafton Notch State Park. One last idea would be Baxter State Park, but I imagine that could be logistically challenging during the winter. (http://www.baxterstateparkauthority.com/outdoors/snowmobile.htm).  If you could get far enough into the park you would get some spectacular views--Tote Rd (West Perimeter Rd)
