Title: Reinstalling Epson 3800 after hard drive crash
Post by: Ken Bennett on October 27, 2013, 08:36:26 pm
So the hard drive in my late-2009 iMac died. I've restored the boot drive from a Time Machine backup, run all the updates, and I'm back working with OS-X 10.6.8. (Yeah, I know, but it worked with my printer and I saw no need to update the OS.)

So of course the Epson driver is not working, or maybe it's just not playing nice with Lightroom 4. I did the usual delete-and-reinstall the latest 10.6 driver from the Epson site. After several attempts, restarts, etc., I seem to have a working driver -- I can see all the options, make a decent print, etc. However, in the Lightroom Print Module, under Profiles, I can't see any of the stock Epson profiles -- you know, for glossy and lustre paper, etc. -- all I can see in the drop down menu are oddball profiles I added manually over the last couple of years. If I choose one of those, I can click Print and get the complete Epson driver window, which allows me to choose any paper type, and if I load one of the oddball papers it makes a nice print. But if I understand this properly, I need to be able to choose the proper profile in Lightroom. Which I can't for normal papers.

Any ideas? I assumed LR got the profiles from the driver, but do I need to go manually add them somewhere?

Thanks!

OK, never mind. Another restart and all the Epson profiles showed up in the Other list and I could choose them. Sigh. Recreating everything is a real PITA.
