Title: Baltimore city lights shooting west to east?
Post by: Bob_B on October 24, 2013, 09:26:56 am
I've been searching around Catonsville and points west of Baltimore city for a suitable location to shoot evening and night shots of the city lights, hopefully with the moon in the background. For this, I have been looking for a place with some elevation (and that isn't in someone's backyard). I'd like to get the entire city plus surrounding environs, so places like Federal Hill (in downtown Baltimore) are too close.

Anyone have ideas?

Couple ideas

Otherwise, try the USGS topo maps for the area. Or google earth ?

There are a number of overpasses on the West side of the Beltway [695] below Frederick Avenue. Also, just inside the Beltway off of I95 say from the Caton Avenue overpass off of 95. I also think there maybe good sight lines from around Wilkens Avenue.

Thanks Jay. I'll check them out. So far, the views I've found are hampered by fencing on many of the bridges and overpasses, or are at a lower than optimal elevation. On the plus side, I'm seeing a lot of B'more that I never knew existed.
