Title: Thin blue (cyan) vertical line in jpgs

When opened in Photoshop, a thin vertical blue line appears on some jpgs that were sent to me. I did a search on this artifact, and did not find anything--I have never seen an artifact like this. The lines do not appear while browsing the images in Windows Photo gallery. In fact, they do not appear to be part of the image at all, as they remain the same apparent size no matter how large I view the image in Photoshop.

Can anyone tell me what causes this, and if there is a way to get rid of it?

Yes, that was it. Thanks Rich. I've used guides/grids in Illustrator, but never in PS.
