Title: Capture Station Monitor Recommendations?
Post by: Steve G. on September 08, 2013, 04:35:10 pm
I'd like your recommendations on monitors to use for photo capture stations, please.

Here's a little background: the computers at the studio where I work are aging. We have a number of Mac Pro/Eizo CG241 combos in the retouching bay, and about 15 iMacs (various models) which are used as capture station machines on set. The iMacs seem to be holding up fairly well when used for table-top shoots, but show their age when used for faster paced on-figure shoots (e.g., drawing previews for medium format captures via C1 can be sluggish).

I'm considering buying a few new Mac Pros and 'demoting' an equal number of the older-but-still-decent towers from the retouching bay for use as dedicated on-figure capture stations. I'll be keeping the Eizos in retouching, hence the need for new monitors.

The capture station monitors are mostly used to judge focus and pose, but should still have pretty decent color (which, I know, is subjective). Any ideas?

Thanks very much,
Steve
