Title: North Cali sunset have a magenta cast?
Post by: gerafotografija on August 14, 2013, 12:13:54 am
Is it just me or do Northern California sunsets often throw some magenta on the water?

I've seen more extreme examples in heavy surf, but this one is subtle and I had to really work at the WB to recreate it.

It seems like if you look away from the sun, the water is a little cyan or blue, but looking at a different angle towards the setting sun, it takes on a magenta hue especially when the waves are larger. Do others see this as well, or is it my imagination?

I like the color...could it be due to forest fires affecting the light.  I've seen spectacular light in CO. from fires.

Not been to California but Oklahoma often has magenta, more often in the morning but evening at times also.
