I have this strange On again and Off again issue. When printing from lightroom to my LF printer (Canon 8300), Lightroom launches the operation to generate output but the output is never sent to the printer.
If I change the printer, the print output from LR is sent to the printer. If I use another program to print to my LF printer it works.
Random things I have tried to fix this are; closing LR and relaunching, rebooting the computer, changing print size/properties. None works directly but as I mentioned above, the problem goes away by itself and then comes back.
Any ideas?

I'm on a Windows machine and I sometimes encounter that problem, but my printer is an Epson. In my case, it seems that the print spooler quits at random (but fortunately infrequent) intervals. Rebooting the PC has always brought it back for me. This happens about three or four times a year.

I have found the culprit here to be the Canon print preview utility. At times it refuses to cooperate and the whole print job seems to crash. Disabling the preview utility allows printing to continue.

On the few occasions this has happened, I've quit Lightroom, re-opened it and printing continues as normal. Though I'm on OS X and using an Epson, I've attributed it to either the print spooler, as Eric suggests, or simply a memory issue.

I see this occasionally, printing to an Epson 3800 on OS X. Simply doing it again has solved the problem every time (so far).
