Title: Tides in Scotland
Post by: PhotoEcosse on July 31, 2013, 10:41:26 am
Not sure why Kengai's thread was locked. Presumably an operator error.

The simple answer is that any GPS-enabled smartphone will be capable of running several free apps that will give you tide timing and tide height details.

Failing that, this website will provide the information you want.

I found the other thread locked also.

I am not sure of your experience in dealing with tides, so apologies in advance if I am stating the obvious below.

If you are not familiar with using tide tables, secondary ports, neap and spring tides, etc.. seek advise, especially in relation to local conditions, effect of weather etc... Marine charts are often needed with tide tables to calculate actual heights, times and currents at specific locations.

If you plan to go out, consider to  hire a local to guide.
