Title: What's the problem with Sony? Why do they work with this id**t?
Post by: EinstStein on July 22, 2013, 07:46:13 pm
When I saw the new Stella camera, I can only say to Sony: You are an id**t!

Hi,

It won't affect Sony's trademark, so it is not Sony's problem. They just deliver the platform to Hasselblad.

Best regards
Erik

What a strange fetish the (once) high-end camera makers are getting themselves into .. fashion accessories for those with too much money - you are paying $2k extra for a fancy grip .. lol!

I guess they made money on that horrid 'Lunar' after all ..

I see little downside for Sony in this: a few extra sales, probably at a nice high margin, and it is mostly Hasselblad's brand that gets tainted, not Sony's.

But there are companies out there that will lavishly decorate iPhones and such, I wonder how soon Hasselblad's astronomically embarrassing new product lines will be undercut by something like pimpyourmirrorless.com

And frankly, this looks better than the Lunar or the Stellar:

The RX100 is stellar for a compact zoom, so Blad gets a win on this for those buyers who don't know any better.  What can they complain about?  Aside from price and the materials on the grip falling?

As mentioned when the Lunar was launched, I believe they are mistakingly confusing rich and stupid.

Cheers,

Outrageously overpriced, of course, but I think it is a really smart looking camera.  My favorite is the Wenga wood grip, which sets off nicely with the gun-metal finish of the camera.  Love to see this on an RX-1 (at a suitably reduced price, of course)

Looking at much of the "luxury goods" marketplace, I'd say they're spot-on.

While the style maybe wasn't to everyones taste I could at least see the that the Lunar did offer a unique look, this on the other hand just looks like something someone created in their garage with a block of wood and a giant H badge.

Does the cost include returning Electric Data Cameras from the surface of the moon (http://www.hasselbladusa.com/about-hasselblad/hasselblad-in-space/space-cameras.aspx)? ;-)
