Title: i1Profiler 1.5 has been released
Post by: yannb on July 11, 2013, 11:36:36 am
Hello everyone,

Get i1Profiler 1.5 from http://www.xrite.com/product_overview.aspx?ID=1397&Action=support&SoftwareID=1305 or through the auto update mechanism of i1Profiler.

Here's what's new:

Device Link Profiling

Device Link Profiling – i1Profiler now has the ability to create Device Link profiles.

NOTE: Users must have an i1Pro 2 with an i1Profiler Publish license OR a dongle with an i1Profiler Publish license to unlock device link profiling.

Users can create device link profiles using any combination of RGB, CMYK and CMYK+N printer profiles.

Users have custom controls for Link Matching Types:
Color – Use Destination Black Generation
Color – Use Source Black Generation
Color – Save Ink
Color – Custom Black Generation
Spectral

Users have custom controls for managing the color purity and blending characteristics of primary and secondary colors.

i1iO Dual Spot Mode (M0,M1 and M2)

Added the ability to perform dual mode measurements with the i1Pro 2 in a supported i1iO table. This is spot mode only. Dual mode scanning will be implemented in a future release.

Display and Projector Profiling

Better support for Plasma Displays with the i1Display Pro – Fixed issue in previous releases where plasma displays yielded poor calibration results when measured with an i1Display Pro.

Enhanced the Projector Location algorithm for more accurate location of projected image on screen.

Printer QA

Added the Ugra/Fogra Media Wedge CMYK v3 LFP for large format printing.

Scanner Profiling

I1Profiler now supports for HutchColor (HCT) family of scanner targets.

Removed the resolution restrictions for scanned targets.

Patch Generation

Fixed an issue where there was a slight discrepancy in the CMYK device values between the CGATS and TIFF files created for a given patch set.

Tray Application

After installation and restart, the Tray application will no longer launch automatically. The Tray is only activated if a user selects the Profile Reminder and/or the Ambient Monitoring feature found in the Display Profiling branch.

Fixed the issue where the Tray application was preventing the MacOS from shutting down.

IF you are on a Mac and also use ColorPort, this new version will cause CP to crash thanks to the XRD protocol. There should be a separate download/fix for this. You want XRD 2.3.1.3 and you install this AFTER the update otherwise it will install the older XRD build.

While the release notes SHOLUD inform you that the color engine has been updated, it doesn't. Few will care but IF you are doing any kind of process control and rebuild a profile using legacy measured data, your results will not be the same! I strongly suggested to X-rite that they inform users of these changes but it appears to have gone on deaf ears.

Thanks for pointing that out!  Does the color engine change affect all intents, or is it just how they're building perceptual?  Do you see the change as a positive one?

I only tested the Perceptual table. The differences in the two builds:

Overall - (567 colors)
--------------------------------------------------
Average dE:   0.20
    Max dE:   1.96
    Min dE:   0.00
 StdDev dE:   0.24

Best 90% - (509 colors)
--------------------------------------------------
Average dE:   0.14
    Max dE:   0.56
    Min dE:   0.00
 StdDev dE:   0.15

Worst 10% - (58 colors)
--------------------------------------------------
Average dE:   0.72
    Max dE:   1.96
    Min dE:   0.57
 StdDev dE:   0.26

--------------------------------------------------

When sorting by worst dE, it's dark blue/cyan's and interestingly a patch of yellow. Tweaking the color engine most likely.

- so Andrew, care to explain this a bit?

Is XRD 2.3.1.3 something that is contained in some downloadable file on X-rite's site? Or are you saying to simply reinstall ColorPort (v.2.0.5, I think?) after updating i1Profiler to v.1.5?

Thanks,

John

Yes, I have a crashing ColorPort. I have downloaded XRite Device Services 2.3.1, after installing ColorPort 2.0.5 and after installing i1Profiler 1.5. Color Port still crashes :(

Andrew,

Is there any easy way to actually get ColorPort to work with the iSis on the Mac?
