An urban landscape, from what I imagine is a popular vantage point, although I don't remember seeing this view in a photo before.

Perhaps you need to include a landmark that would give the viewer a clue as to which city it is. (I'm guessing San Francisco but I could be several thousand miles out).

Very good guess. It is SF, overlooking the Castro district.
Also, it was taken with an OMD and M.Zuiko 45mm at f/11. As far as I can tell, this is one of the few lenses on m4/3 that seems to have sharpness to spare even stopped down quite a bit.
