Title: Colorado tips

I'm going to be shooting in Colorado for about 2 weeks in september, mostly around rocky mountain national park and the area. Does anyone have some tips in terms of where to go or what other areas are worth seeing ?

One resource I'd suggest is this website (http://www.coloradodirectory.com). I was able to find a lot of good suggestions for my upcoming visit to Aspen. HTH & hope you get some stunning shots!

Hello--More than likely you will be entering the Park from the East side Denver (Estes Park) of the Divide.  My suggestion would be to spend the majority of your time on the West side, however, giving the East side some time as well but you would have to go over Trail Ridge Rd--allow a day.

The East side will be teaming with point & shooters--drive over the Pass & spend time on the West side in the smaller communities such as Grand Lake, Granby, Parshall et al---since the Colorado River's headwaters are on the West side--just follow the Colorado River & its offerings,communities Hot Supher Springs, Kremmling, --following the Colo River down to Dotsero( In particular the old Colo River Rd from Kremmling to Dotsero) to Glenwood Springs & beyond all the way to Moab.

Time will be your nemesis.

I have stayed in Estes Park and daily entered the park from there. I found that choosing a different trail each day proved very rewarding.
REMEMBER: You are well about 8000 feet. I would wake up at night short of breath and had to take it slowly even after a week on the trails at 9000 or more. Be careful. Also if hiking, ideally you should have someone with you.

+1 on the west side of the park. Grand Lake is the place to start. The two sides of the park are quite different.

Can't help you a whole lot with locations but I can highly recommend that you visit Erik Stensland's website, Images of RMNP (http://imagesofrmnp.com/), prior to your trip for some ideas.  While you're in Estes Park be sure to check out his gallery for even more inspiration.

Erik has also published an excellent guide to photographing in RMNP.  Highly recommended.
