I have a Mac (Lion) and Lightroom 5
I created a book using the book module within Lightroom 5. This I uploaded to Blurb for printing.
However, I also wanted to save the book as an PDF onto my desktop using the option within the book module to save to PDF
This I tried twice as each time either the whole book without the front /back cover was saved to the desktop or the book without the front/back cover was saved .
Any suggestions/tips on how to save an PDF of the whole book including the cover

You can't do it directly. You'd have to consolidate the two files using something like Acrobat.

By default, .pdf books are saved in two files - one with the cover and one with the interior. The only way around this is to tell Lightroom not to use a cover and put the cover on p.1 of the document. You set the book to PDF rather than Blurb, and 'no cover' becomes one of the cover options.
