Title: Point Reyes Depression
Post by: Harald L on June 19, 2013, 01:17:39 pm
I've managed four visits to Point Reyes in good hope to take some pictures of this famous landmark. So far I could only take a few pictures like this one. I wonder how many journeys I still have to do to see the sun there.

Great shot, Harald, but I might have cloned out the road markers and speed bump.

Have you been in December or January?

In terms of classical composition, little spots of light in the darker areas is good. In terms of me liking the reflectors in the road and thinking they add the the picture, well, eh. Maybe? The bottom wants SOMETHING there.

Very nice, well done. Who needs sun? Sun is boring.

But, try winter. Winter is the SF Bay's summer.

I've only been to Point Reyes once, last fall, and there was nothing but sun. I wish I'd been there with the weather this shot was taken in. Nice one! Better than any I got there.

This shot was taken on the small street to the lighthouse. The fog was so strong that you couldn't see the beach beneath the lighthouse. (All my visits were during August / September.

Between the parking lot and the Point Reyes Lighthouse.

It was well worth the conditions to capture this image. Who needs the sun if you have vision?

I grew up there and Indian summers are the rule...late September to early November is great, winter too, as mentioned by someone, but then rains can come and stay for quite awhile. Late Spring into mid summer is iffy. Mark Twain said, "The coldest winter he ever spent was in San Francisco during the summer."
By the way I like the moodiness, but would consider removing the distractions.
