Title: NEC MultiSync question
Post by: Trevor Murgatroyd on June 19, 2013, 11:18:19 am
I have a NEC MultiSync PA241W. It has a USB hub to which the manual tells me (very briefly!) I can connect a keyboard and mouse through the downstream ports and then, by connecting two computers to the monitor via the upstream ports, can switch the keyboard and mouse between the different computers. I have not tried this yet.

The monitor also has multiple video input ports of various types and at present I only use one.

I am trying to figure out if I can somehow combine these two features so that I can have two computers connected to the monitor, and then switch keyboard, mouse, AND video display from one computer to the other as I choose. This will help me decide whether or not I will buy a second computer.

I am not sure if I am expecting too much from this monitor and have not been able to find anything helpful on the web.

I would much appreciate if anyone here can help me.

Yes, this works (I am using it with a PA271W monitor right now). Didn't work at the first try because whenever I was changing inputs, the monitor USB1 stayed current. I fiddled a bit with the tools menu, manually selecting USB1 in one view and then USB2 in the other view and keeping them for a few seconds so the OS had the time to detect and configure the hub.
