Title: Ratoc SCSI <-> Firewire working on TB ports?
Post by: BernardLanguillier on June 14, 2013, 05:26:26 am
Hi team,

Has one of you tried to connect an older Imacon SCSI scanner to a recent Mac using a combination of Thunderbolt <-> Firewire and Firewire <-Ratoc-> SCSI adapter?

Having the scanner to run with the Firewire <-> SCSI adapter already required a very specific level of firmware for the Ratoc, I am wondering how the TB <-> Firewire adapter changes the equation.

Besides, has anyone been able to run successfully Flextight in a 10.6.8 instance of Snow Leopard server edition running into a VM with 10.8.4 as a host?

As you may have guessed, I wondering whether my lagacy Imacon scanner would stand a chance to remain usable after migration to a recent TB enabled mac.

Thanks.

Cheers,
Bernard

I haven't tried it with an Imacon, but my Ratoc FR1SX works fine with a Nikon LS-2000 when connected to a Firewire chain hosted on an Apple Thunderbolt Display connected to a rMBP via Thunderbolt, using VueScan. I was rather pleasantly surprised that it did.

The sticker on the FR1SX says firmware ver1.33; I have no recollection that I ever updated it. I think that's a different version from the one you need for the Imacon.
