B&W filters are always a good bet. FWIW, this lens has no vignetting issues even with normal thickness polarizers at 24mm, so you don't need to buy thin mounts for it unless you plan to stack filters. FWIW, I'd advise not using a UV or clear filter just to keep the front lens element clean unless you're in some exceptionally harsh environment. It's a great lens and adding a filter for no particular reason can't help image quality.

I have made it a habit to always buy the UV filter of the manufacturer who made the lens. Leica filters for Leica lenses, Hasselblad filters for Hasselblad lenses, Canon filters for Canon lenses.

First you can't go wrong (they know what they are doing), secondly you support your brand with a little extra profit.

How bad would it look to spend 2000 bucks on a fantastic lens and having to look every day at a lower-class UV filter on your Canon lens (because you wanted to save 20 bucks).  :)

The B&W filter bests the Canon filter in several ways. Most notably, the Canon filter has no anti-reflective coating at all while the B&W has an anti-reflective coating. On top of that the B&W filter uses Schott glass and has a brass ring. The B&W is "lower class" if you're only looking at price, $147 at B&H as opposed to $270 for the Canon. That's $123 more for IMO a lower quality item.

Maybe it's a lot cheaper elsewhere, but B&H lists it for $269.50

Strange. They seem to have 2 Canon UV filters.

B&H has a CAUVP82 (for 89 dollar) and a CAUV82 (for 269 dollar).
