According to the change log for Magic Lantern, they've now got automatic ETTR in their latest development version of firmware:

Now if only camera companies would listen to actual photographers and follow suit. I'm not holding my breath...

I look forward to seeing what it can do.  I am curious how it will deal with specular highlights or shooting into the sun....that is, distinguish between significant and insignificant highlights.

Hopefully, the camera companies will not even bother. What a disaster that would be.

The good news is that as sensors continue to improve DR- and noise-wise, ETTR is becoming less important.
