Title: Skye and Harris
Post by: markadams99 on May 24, 2013, 02:22:35 pm
A few notes from a rainy week on these islands (http://thelightcavalry.zenfolio.com/kintailskyeharris):

1. I used a Fuji x20 on automatic throughout and was quite satisfied:

2. The island of Harris is just delightful and emptier than Skye. I loved staying at this high-end b+b - http://www.lochedge.co.uk - in this setting:

3. Skye is connected from the mainland by a bridge (which goes almost directly to Dave's b+b at Kyleakin (http://www.luminous-landscape.com/forum/index.php?topic=69467.0)) so it's efficient to reach from the N.American east coast, eg Newark direct to Glasgow, then hire car through 200 mostly lovely miles by Loch Lomond, Rannoch Moor, Glencoe, Ben Nevis, Lochaber, Glengarry, Kintail, Skye. Or fly to Stornaway on the isle of Lewis which is connected to the Isle of Harris (it's complicated) and rent a car there. Anyway it's pleasant travelling with no cities to negotiate.
