Title: Target making for the iSis

Whilst testing i1Profiler some time ago I noticed that target creation seemed to incorporate a number of 'unpredictable' features, but I've created a few custom targets, that I've used regularly since.

The other day I was looking at the iPF6450 I've got from Canon, and wanted to experiment with some different targets (someone else's paper and ink is always a distinct benefit for this ;-) Noting that the iSis maximum sheet length is 26", I thought I'd make a big target for 24" paper...

The target creation process seems to rather arbitrarily jump about in layout and mix of patches, with a custom 13"x23" target turning into two target sheets (on the same sheet of paper) as you increase the patch numbers.

I was wondering if anyone has done much experimenting with larger sheet targets and the iSis/i1Profiler? If so, what numbers of patches give effective results? I realise that this is a somewhat vague request, but it's always useful to hear others experiences.

Another possibility to work round the, sometimes curious, chart creation methods of i1P it to define the patches and save them in i1P, then use Colorport to build the target page. CP seems rather more predictable in how it builds pages. You may also have to use CP to measure the custom chart, but you can then use any measurements in i1P, not quite such an elegant workflow, but easy enough.
