Title: Epson 4900 dirty trailing edge sheet paper

Today my Epson 4900 started leaving what looks like black smudges on the trailing edge of prints on 8.5x11" paper.  They are evenly space and look as if they are the result of ink on rollers.  I'm using the old Ilford Galerie Smooth Pearl with the Epson setting of Premium Semigloss, and Ilford's old profile.

Things have been working fine for about a year, with none of the settings changed. I suspect all I have to do is clean the paper path (the paper is loaded from the cassette), but I haven't found how to do that.  I'm quite paranoid about fiddling with rubber rollers or other parts that maybe should not be moved by hand.

I'm sure others here have run into this problem...any suggestions?

Have you tried adjusting the platen gap to wide / wider / widest ?

I find all our printers start to leave dirty marks when they get to 1 year plus, and adjusting the platen gap usually eliminates the problem.

The marks seem to have solved themselves.  I think the end of a roll of paper had too much curl had picked up some ink through a head strike and transferred it to the rollers. After three prints on cut sheets the marks never returned.  Thanks for the response.
