For Linux/OSX users there appears to be a programme that shall we say has taken some pointers from LR.
It even has the ability to convert (http://www.darktable.org/2013/02/importing-lightroom-development/) some of your LR settings to make the transition less painful.
The attitude of the developers leaves something to desired it has to be said, such in the FAQ (http://www.darktable.org/faq/)
