Title: Porters Under Dhaulagiri
Post by: circlingkailas on May 03, 2013, 09:25:07 pm
Comments welcome, please be gentle.  This was scanned on an Epson 10000XL from the original Velvia 35mm, prepped in Photoshop.  The sky at 17K feet is that color.

Great atmospheric picture.  Critically, I find the porter in the foreground just a tad too near the edge of the frame.  Also, it's frustrating not being able to see his face or eyes.  I appreciate he is probably very wrapped up against the elements, but it sort of makes him anonymous as a result.  In view of that perhaps it would have worked better if he had been going the other way - up the track.  In my view that would have made a slightly better picture.

But still, it is a great shot in a fantastic remote setting and it must have been quite an adventure getting there.  You probably have a good set of images from the trip and I can imagine this one fitting in well among them.
