Title: Sweeping arc of color artifact -- does it work?

Although I have seen sweeping arcs that look blurred in slow exposures, the solid saturated color in this one made me wonder whether the intensity has something to do with the new X series sensor. There is a lot I like about this image, but I am curious what others make of the colorful imaging artifact. Does it seem to work in the context of this picture?

BTW, I love using the newly updated Aperture for importing X20 .RAF files ahead of CS6. I tried ACR for a while, and while I was able to get decent results, I really prefer Aperture for organizing image libraries and for the initial steps of exposure adjustment. Once I get to NR, sharpening, layer masks, etc. PS is of course essential. In this case, there was really not much to do. It pretty much looked like this in the OOC JPEG as well. Did I miss any fine tuning that would make it better?

The blue swath looks like someone took a paintbrush to your photo. It has no business being there, in my opinion.
