Title: Shooting locations around Louisville, KY
Post by: nehemiah on April 10, 2013, 01:19:53 pm
I moved to Louisville, KY in the fall and am looking for landscape/nature photographic locations.  I had a nice 4 days trip in the Smokies, but I was aiming for something within 3/4 hours driving from Louisville.  Thanks guys.

I live in Lexington. The Big South Fork is my favorite place to shoot. Very rugged.
Cumberland Falls is also very nice.

If you like horses, you could find horse farms galore around Lexington, and many allow visitors. It has been many years since I have done this, but I can assure you that if you like green pastures with beautiful Thoroughbreds, Lexington is the spot. Foals are 2 to 4 months old by now, breeders aim for birth just after New Year's Day, the official birthday of all Thoroughbred race horses.

I agree with NancyP. The countryside around Louisville and particularily Lexington is really epic. The horses live better than I do. The pastures, palatial barns and thoroughbreds are absolutely beautiful.
