Title: Wild Lion
Post by: Heinz on April 05, 2013, 11:57:46 am
Does this work or not? Taken in the wild and lucky to get this shot.

The lion himself is ok, but I don't care for the total lack of visual context and the crude masking around the lion only weakens the image further.

Not, I'd say. You certainly have a good shot of a lion, but I don't like the processing one little bit.

How dare you call Colorama crude! I always shoot cuddly toys like that.

I'm with Doug and Jeremy. Let's see the original -- before it got processed to death.

Agreed… When I saw the lion, I saw a good photo but after only a couple of seconds, the processing toned down my enthusiasm.

Hi Guy's,

Thanx for the feed back. I have posted the original for your info. Very little was done to this image, selected lasso tool, crudely outlined the Lion, selected inverse and in levels dragged the white slider towards the black slider untill the background was white. The reason for posting this image purely to find out if there is interest in this style of wildlife. The processing work is terrible I know  ;D

Fine shot. I'm not terribly keen on the crop, though: I think either tighter, for emphasis, or looser, for space, would be better.
