Title: i1 multiple optimizing?

I just realized my optimized profiles can be optimized again.. wondering if anyone has any experience with this or thoughts on whether continued iterations might be useful.

If I make a profile from 2 pages (more than 1800 patches) then the optimized profile by generating 2 more pages of optimization patches do not improve it's quality. Some papers even get worse.

This engine was designed in part for the ColorMunki and its ability to make a profile from very few patches. If you're starting with a target that has a lot of *well placed patches* to begin with you won't have a need for optimization. As always, choose a patch set with lots of grays if possible...

The only time I found the optimization to be even remotely useful was with the 2000 odd gray patch optimization that was here:

That site is down, I've asked the author about it. Anyway, the target does provide a slight improvement on gray balance on *some* printer/paper combo's but subtle. If you start with enough patches, optimization is usually not worth the time and cost.
