Title: For the lightroom development team - audio
Post by: WilH on March 29, 2013, 12:10:41 pm
Is there any chance that there will be a Lightroom4-like product for audio files?
I have been a user of Lr since its inception and I love it! There is nothing like it and the functionality of the current version is awesome.
I am also an avid, professional nature sounds recordist. Having the database functionality, Maps, Develope/Edit etc features for an audio centric program would make life amazingly easier for professional audio recordists.
Please feel free to email me off list about this if needed.
I am looking forward to your comments.
Thank you,
Wil Hershberger

Well it is nothing like Lightroom, but years ago I did a long video project with lots of independently recorded voice overs/narration etc which proved a nightmare to manage.  I used iView Media Pro to catalog the files, put them into catalog sets, keyword them etc.  As far as I remember you can't actually do any editing within the program but you can open the files in external applications and then save them back into the catalog.

Whilst useless (in my opinion) for large Raw files, I still like iView for sorting and sifting through jpegs.  i would imagine that the new iteration with phase one continues the support for audio files.  As far as I know there is a demo option that might be worth exploring.  Nothing like LR but still a good database program.

Thank you. I have used iView Media Pro in the past. While it will organize files it certainly is not Lr-like.
Thanks again,

Great idea, a separate app to do what iTunes has sucked at for so long!

There is WinAmp to play and Media Monkey, but it would be great since we all have taken so much time to learn and now know LR so well, it would be a great adaptation.
