NIK has new pricing and a coupon - I purchased the collection...
I am not a fan of the HDR images that look like they have been run thru an 'ezbake' oven...
that being said, i would really appreciate thoughts / opinions on this...
none of the NIK presets were to my liking - they were 'over the top'... (ezbake oven)
i first did WB adjustments in capture one pro - saved as Tiff - then used the slders in this NIK hdr / ps - used topaz denoiz then smart sharpen .06 /60 and sized for web
thoughts?

Looks okay to me. You should try out the CS6 32 bit HDR process...it's pretty slick.

hi chris - many thanks i have cs6 PS 64 bit loaded on PC...
-
I really like it. I also have the Nik HDR and some others but haven't gone that route yet. It's on the to do list :).
-
chris - i have tried the lightroom thing many times - i simply do not know how it is supposed to work...
i loaded the 5 images
highlighted them - right click - open on merge to HDR Pro...
cs6 photoshop opens up - in lightroom the thubm preview changes like 'it is doing something'
the screen stays blank in PS
whenever i have tried to open anything in LR to PS
screen stays blank
gives me nothing but headaches - cannot stand this crap - is seems simple enough - but i simply, it seems do not have the skills to use it...
any thoughts on what i may be doing wrong?
i tried the merge is PS - but unable to do post perge edits in adobe camera raw - the resulting file will not convert to smart object

You have to go to the Photoshop "Help" menu and upload version 7.1 or higher. I think they are up to 7.3 now. It's free but is the only way the 32 bit process will work.

That's a great tutorial on how it works.

i will try the upgrade
i was able to do the 32 bit HDR in PS - no Pblm... but no nay then wo work in in acr - would not convert to smart object - so i thought i would start in LR...
i will update

same frames - used lr/ ps HDR pro 32 bit

I like the second version better mainly because it doesn't have the blue glow in the sky surrounding the arch.

I think much better also. Now, go shoot it in 7 exposures and see what you get.
-
Nice!

I think HDR works pretty well for this shot. My only criticism is that there's too much empty sky.

So, even with HDR, we have to stay mindful of composition? Sorry, couldn't resist ;) I think the blue glow is reduced in the second image, but not quite completely believable. Fun image to work with.

I kind of like the iridescent blue glow myself.

in real life the bridge does glow - it is lit with LED's
it is cool -
these 2 images normal - halloween shows 'glow' with haze in the air....
halloween
and voting day - was cold and very clear air - very long exposures (8minns)

headed out 2nite to try this very thing!

I think both of these are better shots than the original post.

doug - i agree - not my normal style - took it for the purpose of the hdr.. knowing i would have stronger - broader range of light to work with - it was an experiment
-
I think your experiment was worthwhile. I normally can't stand HDR, but your example works well, IMO.
-
Very nice, Blooms, especially since you resisted the urge that seems to come over early HDR users to overdo it to the point of silliness.
Yeah, for HDR that doesn't look like HDR, Nik's HDR Efex Pro 2 is the best software I've used and I think I've tried 'em all.
