Title: Joshua Trees
Post by: MTGFender on March 24, 2013, 03:40:14 pm
Joshua Tree National Park, CA
Phase One IQ180/Phase One DF/Mamiya 35mm

I had 4 hours at the Park. I've never seen something like this in my life!
What a place!

None of us are youngsters but at least some of the wonder of photography is that we come across and photograph scenes or situations that can recreate that child-like awe again.
An excellent thing in my humble opinion.

As for this image - wonderful subject and beautifully captured.
The subtle shadow tones and detail are simply glorious.

Its not just my imagination is it, but the quality of your image-making is just powering ahead.

Congratulations.

Tony is right on. This is a fine image.
I've been to Joshua Tree NP twice and never was able to get an image of the trees that did anything but look quirky, so I stuck with the rock formations.
This must be the grandest Joshua Tree, and you've captured it in the perfect light! Bravo!

Nice treatment.

Did you also do the 1-hour "nature trail" walk? A great way to see a splendid variety of vegetation, animals and rock formations in a very short time.

Thanks very much! I wish I had more time there. I had only 3 hrs before and 1 hour after the sunset. I will absolutely revisit the Park in the future. There are countless opportunities there.

Really great image.  I never saw a Joshua like that - maybe I was overcome by the unique geology.

We were there in mid-February and spent a while in Hidden Valley.

Don't miss that place if you go again.

A gorgeous photograph of an especially regal Joshua Tree at dusk.
