Hi All,
Just tried my 1st print off my 4900.
It looks like this.
As a printing noob I really appreciate any pointers.
from Macbook Pro 10.6.8, Photoshop CS6
Many Thanks,
David

You might want to run a nozzle check to make sure that you are getting black.
-
Your black ink channel is completely clogged or blocked. Time to start using your ink as an expensive head cleaner. :)
This is not uncommon, particularly when you switch black inks back and forth on an Epson.

Make sure that you didn't get an Epson 4900 WE. The WE stands for Warhol Edition.

On the money John & Sal ....
Nozzle check shows black is off the air ;(

You can probably charge more for that print now as it's a true original. ;)
-
if only Mike ;) ... and I don't really want all my prints looking like it ... I know ... picky picky ;)

UPDATE - after talking to the Epson tech over several phones calls ... I've head cleaned, nozzle checked, power cleaned, nozzle checked, pair cleaned, nozzle checked .... etc, etc, etc, you get the idea.
Now .... The black (MK) is working great ..... but the light cyan (LC) has gone out in sympathy .... grrrr .... Epson tech seems to think it maybe a pump problem .... oh joy!
will let you how things go ...

Things are better now, but it used to be like this. I'd be swearing up a blue streak. My wife would walk by the studio door and say, "Are you printing again, dear?"

What made things better Jim?

I'm not sure, but I think there were three things that changed.
The printers got better. I started with the 9000. The software got better. The OSs got better st handling big print files.
I learned workarounds for some of the Epson quirks.
I lowered my expectations.
Things are actually pretty good now. I recently did all the prints for a show in one long afternoon, with no rejects.
