Title: FLM Tripods and Ball Heads Now in Canada
Post by: Ari-FLM on February 24, 2013, 10:12:24 am
Hi,
Long-time lurker, first-time poster (I think).

I'd like to introduce myself, my name is Ari, I've been a commercial/documentary photographer for about 15 years.
I sometimes shoot digital, but these days I shoot 4x5 and, more recently, 8x10.

Starting Monday, February 25, I will be responsible for distribution of FLM products in Canada, and on a lesser scale, limited direct sales of our ball heads to individuals in Canada and the US.

FLM is a family-owned and operated company in Germany, and we make tripods, ball heads, leveling bases, pano bases, and QR systems to suit every format.
The company holds numerous patents on some very interesting and unique features.

The feature that attracted me right away to FLM is the tilt lock function, found on all our pro ball heads, the FT series ("T" for tilt).
Using the tilt lock, the ball head will move only in 2-D, forward and back, with no side-to-side movement.
So, much like using 3-way heads, you can level one axis, lock it, and adjust the front-to-back axis independently.
This is something that I hope will attract those who firmly believe (like I did) that a 3-way pan-tilt head is the only way to go, especially for precision work.

Have a look at our website, www . flmcanada . com and if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to send me an e-mail at ari @ flmcanada . com (spaces are for the spammers).
We also have a Facebook page, and I will be posting instructional videos beginning this week-end.

If you are looking for a quality, precision-made photo support system, please get in touch; I can offer LuLa members a 15% discount on a new ball head while I still have supplies.

Thanks, and if you have questions or comments, please post them here as well.

Just a note to let everyone know I am up and running now.
The website has been updated, more updates to follow as stock arrives, and as photos are taken.
I have also uploaded a video showing how the FT ball heads work, I hope it shows everything clearly.

Please let me know if anything on the website is confusing, difficult to see or read, etc etc.

Thank you.

The FLM Carbon tripods are excellent. Really great built quality for reasonable prices.
I've posted a note about the tripods 3 weeks ago here: http://www.luminous-landscape.com/forum/index.php?topic=74749.0

(declaration: I have nothing to do with FLM... I just like their tripods)

The products look nice but as a potential buyer, I'd like to see product photos which are larger and more varied (e.g., detail shots). It is a competitive market, and the more info one can get from a web site, the better.

Chris, I am working on that; the website will be updated within a week with larger and more detailed photos.
I appreciate the input.
