Title: Finding Vivian Maier movie trailer released
Post by: Colorwave on February 24, 2013, 01:14:27 am
I know that there are a lot of people on this forum who look at her as a mere novelty, and see little if anything that is remarkable about her images, but I'm certainly not among them.

The trailer for Finding Vivian Maier has just been released, and I'm impressed all over again with her vision.  The trailer focuses largely on her personal story, which I find fascinating in it's own right, but a sideshow to her body of work.  While the human interest angle is engrossing unto itself, the photos would impress me without any additional context at all.  Even the fleeting glimpses of her work shown in this trailer still move me.  Much of street photography leaves me feeling "meh", but her work has a richness of story and a visual aesthetic that draws me into the frame, shot after shot.

This is another Kickstarter success story.

Well, those would be butthead idiots...

Since I live in Chicago, I've followed her story, since here work was initially found and the guy doing the scanning made a lot of noise locally...

Viv was an interesting shooter...I've seen a couple of print shows of her work...really nice work all things considered....
