Title: Mardi Gras - Local Interpretation
Post by: Chris Calohan on February 03, 2013, 09:38:52 am
This is the guy you don't want to see at your doorstep wanting to date your daughter...the streets were loaded with them yesterday as we did our version of the Mardi Gras parade.

Look at it this way, Chris: he'd look cute in a natural history programme.

If this were Mardi Gras in New Orleans he wouldn't turn a head. Trust me.

I know and he was among the milder ones...

There was this guy

and these two

and though there were many others, this gal was the best hoot of the day

As to the first picture (mohawk man) I don't find it threatening, or exotic. He appears to me to be an accountant out for a wild day. The harsh sun is doing you no favors here either. The lighting is harsh. And because he is not looking to you, it means you aren't connecting with him through the lens. Maybe waiting for him to see the camera would generate more tension or interest.  I can't really see the photographer in this photograph.

Subject and posing is fine.
Light is harsh and background distracting.
Not the greatest shot, IMHO.
