Title: Buying a used 9600. To lock or not to lock.
Post by: huguito on January 14, 2013, 11:59:03 pm
I am buying in the next couple of days a used Epson 9600.
I have run a nozle test and a couple of test prints in the house of the seller, everything looks super nice.
The machine will travel 20 miles or so in the back of a smooth riding SUV.
Do I need to lock the head?
If so how?

Thanks

Hugo

Are you planning on removing the ink carts? (not saying you should). But I would seriously suggest taking some gaffers tape and taping the head all the way to the right so it can't get bumped to the left and possibly ruin it. You don't wanna move the printer a lot without securing the print head.

Thanks for the help.
I am soo excited about making very big prints. :)
I will secure the head to the right so it doesn't slide.
What about the inks? Better to remove the cartridges?
I think that is a good chance they are not going to get bumped if I keep them in.
Is there anything that get damaged on the sealing between cartridge and printer by getting them in and out?

Perhaps Epson support can provide sound advice as to what precautions to take.
