Title: Lenovo W530 screen
Post by: alatreille on January 13, 2013, 05:45:03 pm
Hi all,

My laptop died recently and I'm about to purchase a new one.
I'm a Windows user and not an Apple user.  Please don't open this to a Windows vs Apple discussion.

I'm strongly contemplating purchasing the Lenovo W530 for the following reasons.

My questions are to people that own or have used a W530.

Thanks very much.

Cheers
Andrew

It's a great machine.  I just put one together last week.  The geekbench score with 16gb of RAM, default CPU, Adata 256gb Msata for system drive (purchased from Amazon), the 500gb 7200 mechanical is 12,546..  That's within 100 points of a desktop Ivy Bridge with 32gb of RAM and the 3770k CPU..   So awesome performance.

We were building this one to run a music studio.. so we took out the 500gb HDD and replaced it with  1tb SSD and the optical for a 1tb SSD..

Because this wasn't for imaging it was ordered with the base 1600x900 matte screen.. which was very nice.  Better than any screen I've seen recently.   I didn't expect to like like their new keyboard, but I did.  It's build very well, and still looks like a Thinkpad.  It's nice.  I'll have a review and pics out soon.

I'll be ordering one for my personal use with 32gb of RAM and the 1920x1080 screen and sensor.  I've used this on the W520 before and it's a great screen for a laptop.

I finished the W530 review (http://www.bangkokimages.com/Articles/Equipment/entryid/1211/Lenovo-W530-Thinkpad-Laptop-Workstation-w-Adata256gb-X300-MSATA-SATAIII-6gbps-SSD.aspx).  Very impressive machine.
