Title: The Topologist's Nightmare

Is it just too busy to be interesting?

I share your view on this image. I like it but find that the color is not that pleasant. I would try a B&W conversion. There's not much too loose.

Post by: Chris Calohan on January 14, 2013, 09:25:11 am: I cannot say one way or the other as to its goodness or whateverness, but I know had I happened on the same scene, I would have also shot it...and I would be facing the same dilemma as yourself. I think Russ has it right when he suggests shelving things for awhile until they ripen. Perhaps this is one of those shots.

Post by: churly on January 20, 2013, 06:06:33 pm: I kind of lost tract of this thread. Thanks to everyone for the comments. I did a BW conversion but preferred the color. These crystals formed on the flat surface of a pond and the image is a focus stack of 6 shots. It is interesting how the loss of a reference frame and having everything in focus gives the illusion of an almost vertical plane (for me at least).

Just for fun it would be interesting to play and soften or blur the image a little, or perhaps try the Orton effect or similar. The goal is to make it a tad more abstract. I dunno if that would be an improvement, or if it needs to be changed, but for the sake of fun.
