Simplicity wins Josh.
Lovely image.

Yes, simplicity but so magnificent!

The customary excellence of vision and technique Josh!

Very nice image, great atmosphere.
However, vertical lines are maybe just a bit too converging to me. They convey a vertical dynamism which doesn't fit to the shot.
I'd apply a small amount of perspective correction to cure that, IMHO. :)

Thank you Gents.
Mac_paolo: Straightening the converging lines would destroy the depth that helps draw the viewer into the frame and that guide the eye through the image IMO. Thanks for the thought though.

Josh,
Very nice image. I really like the tones and, at least on my monitor, the pleasing contrast. Curious though, whether this was a directed shot or a serendipitous occurrence (not that it matters to the beauty of the shot)?

Pure serendipity.
If I told you that there were 50 tourists behind me discussing what they were going to have for dinner and another 50 around the corner out of site you would start to get an idea of what it was like. Amidst the throngs this young girl brushed past me as I was standing around trying to make sense of things and wandered up the hall and momentarily paused to look out the sunlit opening. I took the shot and seconds later the hall was again full of tourists.
BTW: I hope that doesnt diminish the feeling of the shot. I debated including it in the original post but didn't want to taint anyones impression.

Great capture, Josh - whenever and however it was made!

I'm just a 'snapper' and tend to agree that the converging lines look entirely natural. My mini-criticism is that the young lady looks a little like a stick insect in the image you posted. I find her presence perfect for the image but maybe it's my monitor (?) :-\

Beautiful. Opportunism exemplified. Well seen and captured. Converging verticals be damned! : )
Hand held? If so, an impossible shot before recent camera developments.

Lovely Josh..

Lovely Josh..
Indeed.
But that's what we always expect from you, Josh.

That's right, Josh. And you'd better not post anything crappy or we'll be on your case.
I agree with Eric. I haven't seen you post anything bad and this one is right up there on your high standard.

BTW Josh, just seen the most recent copy of the Australian version of Better Photography magazine: excellent image of the backlit ice scene.
Another example of your standards!

Thanks Tony. I haven't seen the magazine as yet; glad to hear it looks good though.
Cheers,
