Title: The cold season
Post by: Roberto Frieri on December 22, 2012, 02:18:44 pm
Some shots from my last portfolio.
The portfolio is made of 16 images: http://www.robertofrieri.net/thecoldseason.html (http://www.robertofrieri.net/thecoldseason.html)
Hope you like it.
As always, I would be extremely grateful for any critic or advice.

Merry Christmas to you all.

Nice atmosphere.

I prefer #2, although they all work. #3 and #4 look like they might benefit from being printed large.

Merry Christmas to you too.

What Slobodan said.  The second one is really outstanding, IMO, and the still life is a close second, for me.  Excellent tonal work in all of them.

Good stuff, Roberto. Especially #3. The geometry in that shot is excellent.

Thank you very much Slobodan, Rob, Ron and Russ for your comments.
@ Slobodan: I have print all the images in 20x30 cm format (more or less, on A4 paper with a white margin) using my Epson R2880, but I'll eventually print some of them on A3 or A3+ paper.
@ Ron: I shots many times that tree (the one in the second image), I find it every year a more interesting subject.
@ Russ: I cut the left side of the building to add some "tension" in contrast with the free space on the right side, between the old house and the forest.

(...I hope that my English is clear and correct enough...)

I like #1 a lot but my vote goes to #2. I love the silhouette of the tree and the barely visible mountains in the distance!

Well done.

Thank you Francois.
Then, if you like the landscape shrouded in mist, I would show you two more pictures.

They are all well seen and quite fine. My favorites are #1 and #6.

Yes, I do love misty/foggy landscapes. The last two photos are wonderful, they shout winter into my ears!

Bravo, Roberto

Just another one...

I like this one too. The vignetting effect gives the impression that the sun is not far behind the fog.

All nice, but I'm really taken by the sheep in fog.
