Title: Sailing, Sailing Under the Ocean Blue
Post by: Chris Calohan on December 04, 2012, 06:53:18 am
Just a silly little fun shot when nothing else rears up it pictorial head.

I really like this.
I think this is a far better image than you may.
It a fun image alright but that take nothing away from its considerable aesthetic.

Well done.

+1. One of the best things you've posted, Chris. It tells me you're keeping your eyes open. As HCB said: "Looking is everything."

Plus two or three, and I wonder is this a very shallow marina or a double expose?

Very shallow area of the marina, but quite clear water. Probably not deeper than two feet.

Isn't is funny how often other people like something that we don't think much of?

I agree with everyone else here Chris, my favourite of all you have posted.

It was a spur of the moment, quick pick in which I didn't change anything in the camera from the previous shot to make. Truthfully, it is about a stop underexposed and had more undesireable elements in the shot than I could think of anything to do with, so went letterbox format, jacked up the exposure, fill and color balance and made the best of the worst. I liked it enough to post but wasn't thrilled with it....ces't la vie.

What I find nearly as interesting is that a shot like this is praised on one forum and panned on another or simply ignored. Is it just the drift of a forum, or something more cosmic. It indeed baffles me.

Actually, the difference is that we know more about everything on LuLa than they know on the other fora.

This is why I have mostly stopped posting on other forums.

After a couple of days looking at it, I realized I had spent a couple of days looking at it.
It's a curious shot, and I still can't quite make out exactly what it is. I echo the others. It's my favourite of the shots from you that I've seen.

Just a silly little fun shot when nothing else rears up it pictorial head.

Having fun is when you can shoot your best and most 'artistic' images, that says something about you and what's in your head, especially when you find yourself making something good from nothing much.

I think we can all get far to caught up in the process of looking too hard for images, they are everywhere, you just have to relax into it and not try to force it to get the best results sometimes.

Very painterly, I really like it  :)

It's growing on me...much like my Mullet shot. It too was a spur of the moment, little thought to it, shot...but I like it. Thanks everyone for reminding me not to look so hard and get a bit more Zen back in me.
