Title: Mono Abstract

This is not a macro shot, but I did move in relatively close to capture more detail.

A crocodile skin bag? ;) I like the detail and well observed.

Nice processing.
I'd guess charcoal log.

Whatever it is, it's a smashing image, Dave.

I'll second that.  Gorgeous.  Looks almost liquid.

Thanks folks,

I am tempted to leave you guessing for a little while longer, as I would be very surprised if anyone could actually guess what it is from the image, so perhaps a few clues to help you are in order and just for a bit of fun..

It is an invention that has completely changed the world. Anyone can buy one even though it is useless on its own. It is expensive yet has absolutely no long term value and can become very dangerous when it is old or if it is not cared for.

Tire? Or tyre depending.....

Tire? Or tyre depending.....

Yup, that didn't take long did it  :o

Yes it's just an old heavy duty tractor tyre washed up on the beach, probably decades old and as such the weather/sea has started to break down the rubber, which has gone all shiny and sort of organic looking.

Don't suppose there are many photographers out there who can say they have photographed an old discarded tyre before - however, I now await links aplenty proving me wrong on that..

Well, Dave, I've got to show you that you aren't the only Tyromaniac on the LuLa Forum. This is a shot I took a few months ago.
It is a whole bunch of old truck tires stitched together to make a huge mat which was being used to cover a big pile of dirt at a construction site. I guess the purpose is to prevent the pile from washing away when it rains.

I think yours is more aesthetically pleasing.

Well, Dave... and only since you insist... does this count?

Mike.

Still like yours better, though.

And here I thought you'd put baby oil on an elephant.  Nice work!

Tyre or tube?

Cheers,

It's the tyre, the lumps you see top and bottom are the remains of the heavy duty tread.

Nice work people, here's me thinking I might have done something new and different and then it turns out not to be so new after all, which just goes to show, there is nothing new out there, as it has all been done before in one way or another...

But you did it better!
That's the key.
