Is there a way to have the "red" color displayed while drawing the mask? I thought in the older versions of LR you could do this. I can see the mask I have drawn, by right clicking on the appropriate local adjustment button. However I once you start to draw again, the red disappears. I would prefer
to have the red color available when drawing not just viewing the mask. As in Photoshop or Capture One.

Click on the 'O' key to toggle the mask always on/off.

When red, the default mask color, isn't a good choice because of image content you can choose other mask colors. To cycle through the 4 options, display the mask with letter O, as Jeff says; and Shift O, to cycle though red>green>gray>black sequence.
