Title: Nikon D800 and Canon lenses
Post by: niznai on November 21, 2012, 09:07:09 pm
Can it work? Is there an off the shelf adapter ring that would enable (modern) Canon lenses be used to full functionality on the Nikon?

I don't think there is one as you will infinity focus.  Flange focal lenght is shorter on Nikon.  You can go the other way i.e. use Nikon glass on Canon.  Most modern Nikon lenses G won't usually work as there is no way to control aperture.  Some folks use the 14-24 on Canon with a very special adapter.  But I have never seen a Canon to Nikon adapter.

Correct.

The register distance on Nikons is the longest of all DSLR bodies.

Novoflex has a Nikon G to Canon EF adapter.  It's supposed to work with all G-type lenses.  But even then, you have to do a bit of McGuyvering with the lens to remove some of the weather sealing.
