Hey all,
This is an old photo, but I've never shown it here. I wont have the chance to edit some new stuff for a while, and this is one of my favorites, so I figured I'd show it. This piece depicts Bear Cut Preserve, on Key Biscayne, Florida. To me, this photo embodies what it is that makes the waters of South Florida so precious. Taking your shoes off and just wading through the sand, around the rocks – searching for nothing in particular, just wandering among the shallow sea, watching the morning unfold. These waters possess a rare tranquility that can only be found a handful of places on Earth.

I would crop it about 1/2 way up. Nice from there to the top.

Bucking the trend a bit but I like the foreground showing the rock or coral under the surface.
Its possible that a large print may project the foreground better.

The foreground makes the image, for me. An unusual presentation causes me to look further and to "feel" the quality of the water Matt described (even before I read his words).
Very well done, Matt! If anything, I'd crop some of the space at the top of the picture to strengthen the foreground impact.

Hi,
I like the foreground - makes things more interesting for me. Overall I really like the image, although perhaps feels a little 'tall'. If it were mine I'd be tempted to crop to something like 4x5 or 3x4 aspect ratio and see if I prefer it.

Did you take other images of the scene? If possible I would have liked a little more space between the tree and the sunset. As it is the tree is encroaching on the sunset. A little fill yellow on the white part of the sun would possibly be beneficial. You have a fine scene here and possibly a different composition would help. :)

Thanks for all the wonderful comments guys. Glad to hear some people start to chime in about liking the foreground... because while I love to hear everyone's opinions, there's no way I'm cropping that foreground :)

Lovely scene but the composition just doesn't work for me, the foreground is out of sync with the lovely sky the tree almost feels like an add in....I'd look at a square crop...near miss this one for me.

Initially I was bothered by the foreground. After a few looks, it seems that the stirred-up sand is integral to the scene, as well as your experience. Additionally, it echoes the structure of the clouds. It must stay.
