Title: 2009 Fires from Carlton
Post by: michswiss on October 19, 2012, 08:23:32 am
I know this might not be captivating. This is the view I had of the fires from my flat in Melbourne in 2009 including "Black Saturday."  I have a few other perspectives, but this is the one that works for me as an individual shot.

You will probably get some comments about this is being two different photos. Clouds and the skyline. This works for me in a very powerful way. Great job!

Sadly, I'm afraid it's familiar-looking stuff, Jenn. I saved 60 shots from our fires in Colorado this summer, and I hate to look at them.

I find that the receding line of steeples adds an impact to the ominous cover of smoke beyond the horizon.

IF it is familiar-looking it is not alone in the sea of familiar looking images that internet is awash with.
