Title: RX100 - noise reduction in-camera or ACR?

I have just started using the RX100 as my carry everywhere camera.
It even fits my front jeans pocket.

As to be expected with a small 1 inch sensor the noise is much more evident than on a dslr (5d2).
It's kinda ok up to 400iso although most reviewers give it credit for being smooth much higher than that.
The camera has 3 settings to control noise - low, med & high.
Of course one loses clarity/sharpness with noise reduction

Raw conversion was limited to Sony's clunky converter until last week when ACR (CS6) & LR started supporting the camera.
So my question to other users is - is it better to use in-camera noise reduction or to do it in raw conversion?
Any tips on workflow?

The in-camera settings don't do anything if you are shooting RAW and using ACR or LR.

They only impact JPEGs and only come through as metadata in RAW files - which adobe converters will ignore.

OK thanks. I should have realised that. I'll blame it on a stuffed up head cold :-)

Raw is only possible in the usual A,S,P,M modes. The rest, & there are many, only use jpegs.

So for jpegs the question would be whether to do it in-camera or in Photoshop>Filter>Noise>Reduction (I think it looks like the same engine as the ACR noise reduction)

The Superior Auto and Intelligent Auto modes will also let you shoot RAW or RAW+jpeg.
