I am quickly approaching the end of the 15 day trial period with Alien Skin Exposure, and am unsure whether I should try any other PS plug-ins before committing to this one.
If anyone has advice for me about other options (before I pay a bunch of money for this one), I would greatly appreciate it.
???
My workflow starts with raw and I currently use Aperture 3 and CS5. Many of the "virtual film" filters in the Exposure plug-in feel very natural to me, especially "Kodachrome 25" which was my favorite film when I last used non-digital cameras. This filter in particular has made a huge difference in the quality of my finished color and monochrome photos from the OM-D E-M5 -- currently my main camera.
I attached one landscape, one nature shot, and a portrait to give you an idea of the type of effects I have liked out of this package so far. More variety can be found on my site here--> http://gerafotografija.wordpress.com/images/
Thanks!

IF this kind of filter is your thing, I'd say go for it. I did a little review of the product (http://digitaldog.net/files/EXPOSURE%204.mov), I think AS did a very nice job on the product. I rarely use this myself (just isn't my style) but I respect what the intent of the product is and it does it quickly and cleanly too.

I have been using AS Exposure for years now and for creating film like images I believe it is the best out there. Only if B&W would be your main thing I would slightly prefer SilverEfex but for color I think AS is the best to get. User support for Alien Skin is excellent BTW, the few times I have issues with it were all resolved very quickly. Not something you run into very often but I think worth mentioning.
Since this is such a personal preference thing I find it pretty hard to advice anything but if you like it than the answer whether to get it should be pretty obvious :)

Thanks very much for the response.
My initial CS5 plugin search was for improving the color tone in my photos consistently and convincingly. I still tweek them manually, but Exposure seems to give me a much higher quality starting point.
It just so happened that I took a bunch of pictures this weekend that needed a really bold color range, and the Kodachrome 25 filter did the trick. Here's a link to the results: https://gerafotografija.wordpress.com/2012/10/15/hephaestus-at-work/
Although I initially coverted to monochrome in Aperture 3, I am also experimenting with the Alien Skin filters for this. Since I can do both with this plugin, it looks like I will go with it.
